Second Half of 2010 Property Taxes Due Monday
The Ada County Treasurer’s Office would like to remind property owners that the second half of 2010 property taxes are due on or before Monday, June 20, 2011.
Ada County Treasurer Vicky McIntyre encourages homeowners to confirm whether their lender intends to pay the taxes on their behalf, or if they are directly responsible for making their 2010 tax payment. Property owners who have refinanced within the last six months, should take the time to review their loan documents to determine if the tax was paid at closing, or if property tax funds were sent to the new lender at that time. When refinancing, the original lender often refunds the amount they were holding in escrow, and homeowners may not realize those funds were set aside to be used for property tax payment. Property owners who are uncertain if their lender submits a property tax payment on their behalf, can contact their loan-closing agent (title company or lender) for assistance.
There are several convenient methods for making payment of 2010 property taxes:
- In Person — Tax payments may be made in person, on the first floor of the Ada County Courthouse at 200 W. Front Street from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- By Mail — Payments can be mailed to Ada County Treasurer, P.O. Box 2868, Boise, ID 83701.
- Online or by Phone — Credit and debit card payments may be made online or by phone, for an additional user fee of 2.4%. Credit card payments can also be made by calling 1-800-2PAY-TAX (use Jurisdiction Code 2212). Payments are also accepted online by electronic check for a fee of $5 for payments up to $10,000, and $20 for payments over $10,000. All tax payments, including electronic payments must be made by 5:00 p.m. on June 20th, and it is recommended that electronic payments be made well in advance of the 5:00 p.m. cutoff time. Mailed payments that are postmarked after June 20th are subject to a 2% late charge plus interest, which accrues at 1% per month from January 1, 2011.
