Boise River Float Season at Barber Park Begins Thursday
(Boise, ID) – The 2012 Boise River summer float season, and Epley’s Raft & Tube Rentals at Barber Park, will officially open this Thursday, June 28th!
Each year, officials monitor water levels and weather temperatures before deciding upon an optimal time to open the park for float season - typically this is when temperatures remain above 80 degrees for a period of time, and the river level is considered low enough for floating.
"Epley's Boise River Rentals is pleased to join Epley's Whitewater Adventures in Riggins, Idaho, and Little Salmon Lodge in Pollock, Idaho in launching its 2012 season,” said Connie Zeller with Epley’s. “We are excited to open earlier than we’ve been able to for the past couple of years. We know people are anxious to get out on the river, but it’s important we wait until conditions are good for floating prior to offering raft and tube rentals.”
Even during suitable floating conditions, all river patrons should be aware that the river is cold and swift, and can present significant dangers at any time. People should always be cautious when setting out to float the Boise River, and ensure that everyone in their party has the appropriate life vests and other safety equipment with them. It is highly recommended floaters use the designated take-out location in Ann Morrison Park, and that they do not attempt to continue floating past that point. Additionally, alcohol and glass containers are prohibited on the river to help ensure a safer floating environment for everyone.
