ADA COUNTY SEEKS DIRECTOR FOR JUVENILE COURT SERVICES
Ada County is looking for a dynamic leader to fill the position of Director of Juvenile Court Services. Ada County Juvenile Court Services is a unique department bringing together traditional juvenile justice programs such as probation and detention with an innovative residential and non-residential clinical treatment facility and community and victim services programs. The goal for this multi-dimensional approach to juvenile justice is to protect the community, give restoration to victims of juvenile crime, and provide at-risk youth with an opportunity to gain the life-skills needed to become successful adults.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership and management skills. This position requires the ability to coordinate the efforts of employees with a variety of different professional backgrounds to create a safe, supportive, creative work environment. This position requires the ability to work with state and local law enforcement, social services, judges, non-profit organizations, families and youth.
Ada County Juvenile Court Services (ACJCS) is a 71-bed juvenile detention facility with 3 courtrooms. Positions dedicated to serving Juvenile Court Services include: 3 Judges, 6 Prosecutors, 4 Public Defenders, 35 Probation Officers, 25 Program/Counseling staff, 60 Detention staff, & 19 Court Support staff. ACJCS serves around 2,800 youth and families annually, with a balanced approach to providing juvenile services. The mission of ACJCS is to earn public trust through making positive changes in our youth.
ACJCS received national recognition in 2008 with an article published in Juvenile Justice Update, highlighting the structure and programming of this department.

The Board of Ada County Commissioners is responsible for all Juvenile Court Services functions with additional oversight provided through a partnership with the Fourth District Court and the Clerk of the Court. These roles and responsibilities are defined through an Administrative Order/Operating Plan. The Plan provides clarity for several important business elements including operating procedures, management responsibilities, costs & maintenance, bed allocation, and annual budget process.
