Building Community Partnerships

Ada County Elections Office is preparing for a Poll Worker shortage. A 2006 survey indicated that roughly 60% of our election workforce is 66 years of age or older.  As our workers retire from service, we must find replacements to fill the vacancies.  Ada County Elections is reaching out to community-minded organizations and civic groups for their help.

Some workplaces allow their workers paid time off for community service endeavors.  In fact, during the 110th Congress a bill was passed that allows certain Federal employees paid time off to work the polls on Election Day.  This is a great deal for everyone, Ada County gets skilled workers and those workers get paid.

Civic groups are invited to organize their membership to work the polls and donate their wages to charitable organizations, worthy causes, and scholarships.  If a group was able to staff an entire polling place they may be able to earn upwards of $700 – not bad for a (long) day's work!

If you are interested or would like additional information please fill out the form below.  Someone from the office will contact you within a few days.
