ADA COUNTY PARKS, OPEN SPACE AND TRAILS ADVISORY BOARD

The Board of Ada County Commissioners is currently seeking individuals interested in volunteering their time to the Parks, Open Space and Trails Advisory Board.  This newly formed board of volunteers will serve in an advisory capacity to offer recommendations to the Commissioners in areas related to county parks and recreation opportunities, public recreation trails and open space identification and preservation.

 

Qualified volunteers must be residents of AdaCounty and have a passion for recreation facilities management, public trails development and open space preservation.  Board members should also have good working knowledge of AdaCounty's Comprehensive Plan and understand how its guiding principles impact current and future parks and trails operations and open space preservation throughout AdaCounty.

   

Volunteer board members serve at the pleasure of the Board of Ada County Commissioners and are asked to serve staggering three (3) year terms.  Advisory Board members will meet on the third Wednesday of each month.  Meetings begin at 12pm.

 

Interested residents need to complete a volunteer board application found at the Board of Ada County Commissioners' Office.  The Commissioners’ Office is located on the third floor of the Ada County Courthouse at 200 W. Front Street, Boise, 83702.  The volunteer board application is also posted as a pdf link at the top of this page.

 

Completed applications may be hand delivered, mailed, emailed, or faxed to the Commissioners’ Office.  Applications may be faxed to:  208-287-7009.  Emailed applications should be sent to:  bocc1@adaweb.net.  Applicants with additional questions may call Recreation and Event Services Department Director Bob Batista at: 208-287-5650 for more information. 

 

ADA COUNTY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION

Currently Accepting Applications from Individuals Who Live Outside the City Limits and Outside Area's of Impact

(Interested parties always encouraged to apply)

The Ada County Planning and Zoning Commission consists of seven (7) members who during the evenings on the second Thursday of the month and at other times as needed.   The primary duty of the Ada County Planning and Zoning Commission is to ensure development within Ada County conforms with the county’s planning and zoning ordinances.  

These are unpaid volunteer positions, each carrying a three (3) year term.  Commissioners may only serve for two terms.   The Planning and Zoning Commission is made up of individuals who live in unincorporated areas of Ada County, within the city limits of one of Ada County's six (6) cities, and outside an incorporated city limits but within the city's area of impact.  Qualified candidates must have lived in Ada County for at least two (2) years.   Please submit application presented in pdf link at the top of this page.

 

HISTORIC PRESERVATON COUNCIL

The Board of Ada County Commissioners is currently seeking three volunteers to serve on the Ada County Historic Preservation Council.    One position requires applicants to have professional training or experience in the fields of history, archeology, or other historic preservation related disciplines.  The remaining two positions do not require any professional historic preservation skills or experience; rather, a passion and desire to assist the council in performing historic preservation tasks throughout Ada County.

The purpose of the Historic Preservation Council is to coordinate the County's efforts to identify and preserve historic structures, as well as educate the public about the significance of historic locations in Ada County.  The Council meets the first Tuesday of every month from 12 - 1 PM at the Ada County Courthouse.  Interested applicants must fill out an application and submit it to the Board of Ada County Commissioners' Office, 200 W. Front Street, 3rd Floor, Boise, 803702.  Please submit application presented in pdf link at the top of this page.

 

WESTERN IDAHO FAIR ADVISORY BOARD

The Western Idaho Fair Advisory Board is a seven (7) member board, with each board member appointed to serve three (3) year terms.  The Western Idaho Fair Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30p.m. and performs other duties and functions as outlined in the board's by-laws. 

Interested individuals should complete a volunteer board application found posted as a link at the top of this page.  Completed applications should be returned to the Ada County Board of Commissioners' Office on the third floor of the Ada County Courthouse at 200 W. ADA COUNTY MOSQUITO ABATEMENT ADVISORY BOARD

The Ada County Board of Commissioners is currently seeking qualified individuals who are interested in volunteering their time to serve on the five-member Ada County Mosquito Abatement Advisory Board.   Board members serve in an advisory capacity and meet on the second Monday of each month to discuss all aspects associated with mosquito control programs within Ada County.  Board members may also be asked to perform other duties and functions as required by the Mosquito Abatement District Advisory Board’s by-laws.

Appointees to the advisory board must be a resident property owner in Ada County and a registered voter.  Board members are appointed to serve 4-year terms.  Individuals with a background in pest/insect management, or those who simply have an interest in mosquito abatement activities in Ada County, should complete a volunteer board application found in a link at the top of this page.

 

ADA COUNTY BOARD OF COMMUNITY GUARDIANS

(Interested parties always encouraged to apply)

The Board of Community Guardians consists of seven members who actively recruit and monitor a team of volunteers who serve as court appointed Community Guardians.  A court appointed Guardian acts as a surrogate decision-maker in personal matters for individuals who aren’t able to make decisions for themselves because of mental and/or physical impairments or disabilities. 

Volunteers appointed to serve on the Ada County Board of Community Guardians will directly oversee the services Guardians provide and fulfill other program reporting requirements as outlined in the board’s bylaws.   Please submit application presented in pdf link at the top of this page.

 

WATERWAYS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Board of Ada County Commissioners periodically seeks a volunteer to serve on the Ada County Waterways Advisory Committee. This seven-member committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Commissioners helping to provide direction on issues relating to waterway maintenance and improvement.

The committee must represent a broad cross section of individuals who are required to live within Ada County while they serve their entire three-year term. The Waterways Committee meets at 3 p.m. on the fourth Monday of every month.  Please submit application presented in pdf link at the top of this page.

 

BOISE CITY/ADA COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY BOARD OPENING

The Board of Ada County Commissioners is seeking a volunteer to serve on the Boise City/Ada County Housing Authority Board. This particular opening must be filled a HUD recipient.

The Boise City/Ada County Housing Authority Board meets the second Wednesday of each month and performs other duties and functions as required by the agency’s by-laws and by regulations of the Authority.
