Ada County Coroner - Office Administration
An average day for the Coroner’s Office Administration is anything but “dead”. This extremely busy office has the task of meeting the needs of the Coroner, the forensic pathologists, eight deputy coroners, and the forensic technician. Tonia Fleming serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Coroner - she also handles every aspect of the day-to-day routine and sees that the office is run smoothly. Heather Berry's primary position is the medical transcriptionist for the forensic pathologists, but also assists in daily office functions. Duties for staff include handling phone calls, working with families and funeral homes, facilitating death certificates, fulfilling report requests, verification of cremation authorizations, and serving as office liaison between the Coroner’s Office and law enforcement, media, and attorneys, just to name a few. The Ada County Coroner’s Office administrative team not only handles cases originating within Ada County, but also provides assistance regarding contractual autopsy services for at least 21 surrounding counties.
