On August 3, 2009, the Skate Park Fire burned in the foothills on Ada County landfill property just north of Eagle, Idaho, burning part of the Idaho Velodrome and Cycling Park. The wildfire quickly burned through a valuable foothills recreation area, threatening nearby homes, and challenging firefighters before they stopped the blaze at 205 acres. |

Today Ada County Paramedics and county officials joined with Star Mayor Nathan Mitchell and members of the community for an official ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a new Ada County Paramedics station in Star. |

The Board of Ada County Commissioners is currently seeking an individual interested in volunteering their time to serve on Ada County’s Waterways Advisory Committee. This is a volunteer position to fill a term expiring on January 10, 2012. Volunteers appointed to this committee must live in Ada County during their entire term. This opening will close on March 5, 2010 or when filled. |

The Ada County Historic Preservation Council is currently accepting nominations for the county’s annual Ada County Treasure Awards. Each year, the volunteer council identifies six Ada County properties that have historic significance to Ada County’s rich history. |

The Board of Ada County Commissioners is currently seeking an individual interested in volunteering their time to serve on Ada County’s Weed, Pest & Mosquito Advisory Committee. This is a volunteer position to fill a term expiring on September 30, 2013. Interested applicants must live in and own a residence in Ada County within the mosquito abatement district, and must be a registered voter. This opening will close on February 12, 2010 or when filled. |
