ADA COUNTY and ELMORE COUNTY
BOUNDARY LINE SURVEY OF 1895

The Elmore County/Ada County boundary line was redefined by the Legislature in 1895. The line was surveyed
at a S. 1deg 08' E. bearing for a distance of 44.2 miles, from the confluence of the Boise River and Mores Creek
to the mouth of the Bruneau and Snake River. Twenty monuments were set at 2 to 2 1/2 mile intervals as spelled
out in the legislation. They were 5' at the base and 3' high stone monuments with a "...marked cap stone...". There
are field notes (See below) and a beautiful long map showing the monuments set and the stations occupied.
The current common county boundary line between the two counties is now described as center of the townships
in the north/south direction and along the section lines in an east/west direction that was detached from Ada County
and added to Elmore County by election in 1948 (See Map below).
