Power Point Presentation - a tutorial explaining the Database and SourceView Viewing Software.

DATABASE

A Microsoft Access 2000 database file (.mdb) of all the corner records is available for download. The .mdb file can be downloaded. It has many queries built into the database internally and has two search queries available upon first opening. One is a search for the corner records by township, range and section and the other is to search by instrument number. The database also now has a column for the GCDB number corresponding to the cross-index number filed.

New CP&F Images:

The Ada County Surveyor's Office released the first version of Corner Perpetuation Records on CD on February 13, 2001. This provides all the images of the original Survey Corner Records (CP&F's) as recorded in the Ada County Recorder's Office and stored in Development Services on the 2nd Floor of the new Ada County Courthouse. There is no cost for the CD. The images are organized into a "pagelist" by Township, Range, and XIndex number and viewed with the software SourceView Reader. It is very fast and easy to use. This should eliminate many trips to the County to research your Corner Records for your surveys and allow you to have a complete record on your PC. If you need a CD, stop by at 200 W. Front St., 2nd Floor, Development Services, and see Jerry Hastings or Glen Smallwood to have a CD burned. To have one mailed to you, provide a blank CD and self-addressed, stamped mailing envelope.

Directions for using the Ada County Corner Records CD:

To view Ada County Corner Perpetuation and Filing Record images first download to your computer the image viewing reader software called SVReader.zip. Unzip file and start SVReader by clicking on SVReader.exe. Under "File", select "Open", and select and double click on the file "pagelist.svd". The title page should appear and under "File" select "Pagelist" to view all the corner records. Follow directions on the title page for more details.

If you have the Microsoft Vista operating system and cannot get SVReader to work, we have recommended that users go to the sucessor software to SVReader which is Maxreader by Maxview.com  This is a free download and appears to work correctly with all of the old .svd files, including those prepared by the Ada County Assessor's Land Records division.
