ADA COUNTY HORIZONTAL AND
VERTICAL SURVEY CONTROL INFORMATION
ADA COUNTY BENCH MARK AND HARN BASED GPS DATA
The file below is an excel file list of all the NGS Horizontal and Vertical Control in Ada County and the HARN based
GPS surveys, contracted by the County as listed individually below. The columns lists control points in Local Coordinates,
Latitude/Longitude, and Grid Coordinates. This list is also the numbering list for the Bench Marks and GPS data.
There are three different types of control information, where part of them are shown in different colors:
***The original 1032 T-base survey points, which is the basis for the GIS Base Map, are shown at the (not true) 2700 ft. elevation.
***All the NGS original horizontal and vertical control for Ada County, listed in the older datums, are shown in black.
***HARN based GPS points are shown as red in color.
An AutoCAD drawing (Ver14) shows location of points in an approximate section, township, range grid. Points can be related to
the specific project by the description label.
AutoCAD drawing v.14 (gps_h_v.dwg) is approximately 1.4MB in size. Download gps_h_v.dwg

Surveyed November 2000 - City of Boise GPS Benchmark Survey for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla, District. The surveyed network consists of 10 NGS control stations, 20 existing FEMA monuments to be verified with this survey, and 31 key control monuments set by Boise City.
See narrative for more details.
WARNING: Where this survey indicates it is on the Ada County GIS Base Map Datum on the descriptive sheets and on the coordinate lists, it is not. Use the Lat/Long or Grid (metric) information from this survey only. Use the total list above for correct GIS Base Map Datum and Local Coordinates listing.

Download report (very large .pdf file, 7.4MB)
(If you have trouble with that large of a file, contact me at the office and I can give you a CD to copy it to your computer's hard drive.) I will try to break it into sections in the near future to make it easier to download.
MAP 2000 PROJECT CONTROL DATA

Text file (Comma Delimited) of Control Points. Lists Lat/Long, Grid, Local Coords (GIS 2700 Elev), Location, and Description.
BOISE RIVER STUDY
LIST OF NEW BENCH MARKS FROM USGS/FEMA BOISE RIVER STUDY MAPPING PROJECT
Ada County now has over a 100 new bench marks at the 1988 Datum spaced at about one for every mile east/west across the county. These bench marks were part of an adjusted GPS control network for mapping the project and are accurate to +/-1cm horizontally and +/-2cm vertically.
- To view the point descriptions, the following AutoCAD (R14 version, Softdesk 8) drawing was prepared from the horizontal and vertical control of the project using Softdesk Software and the Geodesy Module. This full size drawing (zip file 189K, full .dwg file 750K) can be downloaded for Internet Explorer, hold down shift key, and right click on file, and select "save target as..." Calibrate using these settings, and this will automatically keep track of the latitude longitude input and converted local coordinates, expressed in feet, at the 2700' elevation. This is the same datum as the Ada County GIS Base Map. Notice all coordinate points start at number 2000 to make room for the T-base coordinates and the Horizontal/Vertical Control pts in the other drawings. The plan is to combine points into one drawing. Note the point numbers attached to a project base in Softdesk do not download with the file and will need to be created. Point numbers 2000-2539 are lat/long grid points at one minute intervals. Point numbers 2540-2647 are Bench Marks.
- This excel file shows the ID NUMBER, LATITUDE, LONGITUDE, ELEVATION NAVD 88 (FT), DESCRIPTION, GRID NORTH METERS, GRID EAST METERS, NORTH AT 2700' ELEV IN FT, EAST AT 2700' IN FT, ELEV88, and DESCRIPTION. Also, a Common Delimited file for the LAT/LONG.
- This text file is a report that lists the all the points and elevations including grid points of the latitude and longitude in Local NAD 83 Coordinates in feet (Ground Level). Point numbers 2000-2539 are lat/long grid points at one minute intervals.
- These 3 .pdf files gives the complete description of each station or bench mark and the sketches (graphics) of some of the stations..
Several files list NAD 83 coordinates of both Latitude/Longitude and local coordinates at ground level (2700' Elev).
