Boise River & Greenbelt Access Parking Lot Gets Makeover
Ribbon-Cutting Event Held Today at Noon

(Boise, ID) – Today, Ada County Commissioners were joined by Garden City Mayor John Evans and others, for a Ribbon-Cutting event to celebrate the official opening of the newly paved and landscaped parking lot, at the northeast corner of Glenwood & Marigold Streets in Garden City.

The parking lot, located on County property just outside the entrance to the Boise Riverside RV Park, and near the Glenwood Bridge, is regularly utilized by recreationists for the purpose of accessing the Boise River and Greenbelt.

“The improvement of this parking lot not only enhances the appearance and functionality of this public access point, but it makes parking lot maintenance much more efficient for Expo Idaho staff than the dirt lot, which required frequent upkeep,” said Ada County Commission Chairman Rick Yzaguirre.

Expo Idaho Director, Bob Batista, also stated that “With the recently extended Greenbelt trails just west of here, and the new whitewater park to the east, this newly transformed parking lot provides a much nicer trailhead for many Greenbelt users.”

The cost to improve the parking lot was roughly $173,000, for which Nampa Paving completed the majority of the work. Along with this improvement project, other recent enhancements were made to the Expo Idaho & Western Idaho Fair property, including the painting of several facilities. This work was completed by O’Connor Painting, at a cost to the County of $51,500. Since Expo Idaho is self-supporting, no taxpayer funds were used for making these much needed improvements.
