(Boise, ID) – Ada County residents living in unincorporated Ada County will soon notice an increase in their trash collection rates, that’s because on October 30, 2012 the Board of Ada County Commissioners, in a 2 to 1 vote, approved a 1.99% increase in trash collection rates for rural areas of the county not currently within a city’s limits. The new rate was anticipated and was included in the most recent billing, which is due November 14, 2012.
The County’s contract with Allied Waste (Republic Services) allows its contractor to request a Consumer Price Index rate increase annually. The Board of Commissioners reserves the right to accept or reject the request for a price increase.
The new monthly rate for standard residential trash and recycling service in unincorporated Ada County will be $17.18. Trash service is billed quarterly. Standard residential trash quarterly rate is now $51.54. This rate is comparable to that of surrounding jurisdictions, with the City of Meridian charging $16.62 per month for standard service, and the City of Boise currently charging $17.80 per month for standard trash service or $13.80 with a $4 recycling discount.
