Paramedic and EMT Positions

Compensation

Ada County Paramedics field employees work 48 hours per week, which includes 8 hours paid overtime (rate x 1.5) when all hours are worked. To calculate weekly gross income, multiply 52 hours by the hourly rate.

Starting rates (beginning 10/01/08):

  • Paramedics - $15.30 per hour 
  • Advanced EMTs - $10.57 per hour
  • EMT-Basics - $9.44 per hour

After newly hired Paramedics have successfully completed their probationary period, they receive an additional 2% for each year of experience up to 10 years.

Please note that field employees earn more vacation time, sick leave, and retirement contributions per pay period than their 40-hour-per-week co-workers.

Occasionally, promotional positions are available, such as assistant field supervisors and field supervisors.
